THE WATER BIRDS SERIES

"THE WATER BIRDS - 2007"

A short movie, filmed at a local country park, it features a few verities of birds.
This is my first film to be made with no script, storyboard or any pre-production, it was filmed and edited within 3 hours, it was more of a experiment to see if I can film, edit and create a film different from my usual action and comedy films from back in my college days.
With this film, I wanted a more calm, relaxing feel and style to it, a kind of dream like state to turn something so normal and natural into something more emotional.
The music is from the 'Titanic' movie, not sure what track but the composer is James Horner.

"THE WATER BIRDS: BATS - 2008"

A short movie, filmed in both normal colour and night vision, filmed at the same location as the last two water bird films.

Original intended to be a film about insects and bugs, 'THE WATER BIRDS: DAY TO NIGHT' was just accidental, I originally wanted this film to be about insects but it later turned into another 'THE WATER BIRDS' film.

I did begin with filming whatever insects I could see, but there was so very few, after a while of searching, I began to film some ducks that was near a group of small baby dragonfly (I think) then on to swans and other birds, the difference with this and the fist water birds was that I got a lot more closer to them than usual.

When it began to get dark, me and my friend decided to stay and wait until it was night to film some bats, the difference from this and the 'THE WATER BIRDS: BATS' is that they were still waking up, as opposed to returning to the trees and resting because it was almost sunrise, they also seemed to fly closer to the ground and closer to us.

This is also my first movie to have its own music, created by me, I wanted a more calm, relaxing and dream like feel to the first half of the film, with the day time and the birds, and to suddenly change it to a more darker and mysterious feel with the night time and the bats.

I hope you enjoy.

"THE WATER BIRDS: DAY TO NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHS - 2008"

I took a few photographs whilst me and my friend were filming 'THE WATER BIRDS: DAY TO NIGHT.'

I never really took that many because we were filming and we wanted the best shots for the short film, anyway, I hope you enjoy what few photographs were taken.

Photographed using a SONY DCR-TRV33 camera.

"THE WATER BIRDS COMPILATION - 2008"

All three of the water birds short films made into one compilation, I think they work well together, the compilation transit from morning, through day, through night and back to morning again, I never noticed filmed them in a type of order that could work as one. I am overly happy with the ending result.

As usual I like to turn something that may not seem special or majestic, to some people, into something more cinematic and emotional, using my style of editing, camera work and carefully chosen and placed music, whether it by my own or somebody else's, that matches the style and theme I am aiming to achieve, I hope you enjoy watching this as I did making it.

The music is from "THE X-FILES" SEASON 7 - EPISODE 11 "CLOSURE"

"THE WATER BIRDS WINTER - 2009"

This is a special water birds film, I though to myself, if it ever snowed, I might do another, this should have been done and uploaded about a month ago or something, but due to not getting home in time, I missed my chance, but on new years eve, of all days, it began snowing again, so I instantly went out, filmed and started editing, which took some time, I think I shot the most footage for this more than I did with the other water birds film.

I added my own music, I made with a music creator editor thing, I did originally and still want to add the 'Ice dance' theme from 'Edward Scissorhands' but I don't know, I just wanted everything in the film to be created by me, and not used something that already exists, but it does go well with it.

Though this might be the last water birds film, I can't really be sure, there might be another, one day, maybe film at another location or something, but if I get a better camera, maybe a HD one or something, I would do another.

The location the water birds films were shot at is the Blackleach country park, in Walkden, Manchester, so now you know, that's if you didn't already know, anybody who has never been there should go, its actually a nice place, maybe you might see me?

Thanks for watching and hope you liked my water birds films.

"THE WATER BIRDS: HD WINTER - 2009"

I said in my last water birds video information, that if I were to get am HD camera, I would do another one, well I did, but I didnt think I would have a HD camera so soon.

I did get the camera about one month before filming this video and decided not to do another one so early, but with the weird weather thats been happening I though about doing another winter edition of Water Birds, mainly because that the picture quality wasnt so good on the last winter special (even on the original file) it has something to do with the fact it was filmed with a standard definition, Mini-DV camcorder, the colour of the snow and other things around it bleed into each other, but thats all over now, I now have a HD camcorder.

This video is like The Water Birds: Winter except it was filmed and available to watch in HD, edited in a new editing programme and some new music has been created for it, I hope you enjoy.
